Wade Clay Huggins
1963-2015
Wade Clay Huggins, 51, died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at St. David's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Wade was born in Houston, Texas. He was a graduate of Memorial High School in Houston. He received his BA from The University of Texas at Austin, an MBA from Texas Christian University, and a MARCH from The University of Houston. Wade was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and a Lifetime Member of The Texas Exes. Wade and his family moved to Austin in 2006.
Wade, a proud Texan, was an avid hunter, a dedicated Longhorn, and Houston Texans fan. Wade took great pleasure in working with his hands. Whether creating an entire feast on the grill or an original piece of fine furniture, he was a master. No matter the activity, all were captivated by his sense of humor and his warmth.
The true joy in Wade's life was his family. His love for his wife and children knew no bounds. He cherished each parental moment and left his children with a great example of devotion to family.
Wade is survived by his adored wife, Amy and his three beloved children; Wade, Jr., 15, Maggie, 14, and Katie, 11. Other survivors include his mother, Marcia Jahncke, step-father, Barton Jahncke, mother-in-law Victoria Harrell, father-in-law, Howard Harrell, brother-in-law, Tres Harrell, sister-in-law, Poli Harrell and family, brother Bo Huggins, sister-in-law, Amy Huggins and family, and countless other friends and family members.
This quotation was written by a life-long friend of Wade's. "In the darkest periods of my life, Wade was present both physically and emotionally whether or not I deserved the support – truly the rarest of friends. I have always believed that if I were truly in need, I would look up and see Wade's face." All whose lives Wade touched received a gift from God.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Cancer Answers. Gifts will be placed in the Andrew Sowell/Wade Huggins Endowed Scholarship Fund benefitting cancer research. Funds may be sent to Cancer Answers, 255 Wiesepape Rd., Brenham, TX, 77833, or through the website, www.canceranswersendowment.org.
