Inside the front cover of my Reata year book, Doug wrote, "Hey Jim, Come on back to Houston so we can go out and total another car! Doug" I had already moved away to the Kerrville area when the yearbooks arrived and Doug was referring to a night the March before where he and I had hit a tree head-on in Tanglewood going about 90 mph in my car after the Boston/Sammy Hagar concert. It was a fun and then interesting evening, especially when my parents showed up at the scene of the accident. It was equally interesting for me, again later when my mother read Doug's message. He was quite the card and one of the good ones.
