Willliam Stephens

Went to Clemson University where l earned a BS and MS in physics, then taught for 20 years at community colleges in North and South Carolina. In 1989 l was privileged to serve as the American ambassador to the World’s Largest Pysanka in Vegreville, Alberta, Canada. (Google it, people, google it.) I retired in 2010 to pursue my dreams of being a songwriter and novelist. In 2003, l came to realize that l was transgender, and spent the next 15 years exploring what that meant and who l was, so in 2019 l changed my name to Penelope Boulder Stephens, and began living full time as a woman.

But no, that doesn’t come close to describing my life. I have suffered much pain, both physical and emotional, but been blessed in ways l can’t begin to list here. If you want to know the whole story, you will have to write and ask. (And l hope you will.)

Spent too much of my time at Memorial chasing the wrong girls, the cute, pretty, popular ones, the cheerleaders, when l should’ve pursued the super smart ones. (Not that the pretty ones weren’t also smart. That was one thing l loved about MHS. EVERYONE was smart.)
